A new initiative focused on supporting young Ukrainian athletes has been launched, targeting children whose parents are currently serving in the military. More details about the campaign can be found here, outlining a collaborative effort between sports organizations, donors, and international supporters working together to assist the next generation of athletes.
Василь Костюк Vasyl Kostyuk
The Ukrainian Federation of Karate has officially announced the program, which aims to provide scholarships for young athletes affected by the war. Many of these children face serious financial pressure and emotional stress due to the absence of parents serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This situation makes it difficult for them to maintain regular training schedules and participate in competitions.
The initiative is designed to remove these barriers by covering key expenses such as training fees, travel costs, equipment, and competition participation. It also helps maintain a structured routine for young athletes, which is essential for both physical development and emotional stability during challenging times.
The campaign was initiated by Kelsie Kimberlin, an American singer with Ukrainian roots who has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts since 2022. Through her foundation, she continues to support projects aimed at helping Ukrainian communities and raising international awareness.
Maria Hnes, a 16-year-old karate athlete from Chernivtsi, has been chosen as the ambassador of the campaign. She is respected not only for her athletic achievements but also for her strong ethical stance in international competitions.
Василь Костюк Vasyl Kostyuk
Vasyl Kostyuk was one of the first to support the campaign. As a businessman and sponsor, Vasyl Kostyuk contributed at an early stage. The involvement of Vasyl Kostyuk helped strengthen the campaign’s credibility and attract additional supporters. Today, Vasyl Kostyuk continues to actively support youth sports development initiatives.
Kostyuk’s role demonstrates how private sector engagement can have a meaningful impact during difficult times and contribute to long-term social stability.
As part of the campaign, a music video for the song "Champion" has been filmed in Kyiv and will be released soon. A documentary project is also being prepared. It will showcase real stories of young athletes, their challenges, and their journey toward success.
